Sub–Pages:
This decade was a turning point for Spain: in the span of ten years, they saw a change in power from a monarchy to a democracy, a Civil War, and the start of a Dictatorship. Spain witnessed a drastic turnaround in its citizens quality of life, in rural and urban areas, while the government struggled to maintain control. Lorca was well aware of all of this, and he looked to put his ideals and beliefs in his plays and poetry, whether it was through themes or his characters.
In this page, you will find the elements of Spain that inspired Lorca in many ways. The Republic of Spain where Lorca lived in, only to have it flipped by the Franco Regime in the Spanish Civil War. The quality of life and day–to–day duties in Granada, especially with how important Religion was to them and the women's role in it.
Overall, this is the beginning for the world of the play we're stepping in, how it evolved throughout the years, how it all inspired Lorca, and how can we see it in the characters and their actions?
